Internationally recognized artists Kristyn and Keith Getty released a new live album focused on worship all around the world in April 2024. The album features a collection of 21 hymns sung by a diverse group of musicians with participation from live global audiences “giving a common voice to the global church.”
The album, titled “Sing! The Great Commission: World Tour LIVE Extended Edition”was recorded in iconic venues representing every inhabited continent. Examples include Belfast (Europe – SSE Arena), Singapore (Asia – The Star Theatre), Sydney (Australia – Sydney Opera House) and Nashville (North America – Bridgestone Arena, Ryman Auditorium).
“This album is a collection of some of our favorite moments singing together, and a celebration of global, Great Commission-fueled worship, – expressed through ancient hymns and Psalms, Hip-hop and spoken word, Folk and Bluegrass melodies, and beyond,” said Keith Getty.
Chris Tomlin, Shane & Shane, City Alight, Andrew Peterson, Sarah McCracken, Kirk Whalum, Blair Linne, Shai Linne, Jonathan & Sarah Jerez, Matt Papa, Matt Boswell, Jordan Kauflin, Laura Story, Skye Peterson, Buddy Greene, Sierra Hull, Ron Block, The Getty Girls, The Choir Room, and Sovereign Grace Music all participated as collaborative partners on the album.
The Gettys hope this album reflects “the diversity of the body of Christ and the beauty of the Savior we serve.” During the live concerts recorded on the album, more than 25,000 Christians in 37 countries around the world joined the Gettys in worship. “It is the worship of thousands of believers singing together in multiple languages,” said Kristyn Getty.
According to Christianity Today, the Gettys have “changed the way evangelicals worship” as “ambassadors for the hymn genre.”
In addition to the album’s release, The Gettys will hold the “Sing! Conference” joining hymn writers and expositors to celebrate “the greatest songs ever composed.” Along with the Gettys, the speakers and artists invited are John Piper, Alistair Begg, John Lennox, Mark Dever, Ligon Duncan, Matt Boswell, Shai Linne, Blair Linne, Os Guinness, Andrew Peterson, Sandra McCracken, Ruth Chou Simons, Colin Buchanan, Laura Story, Skye Peterson, Matt Papa, Malcolm Guite, Jordan Kauflin, Rick Dempsey, Ben Shive, and Michael Wilder. More artists and speakers will be announced in the future. The conference will be held in Nashville Tennesse from September 3–5, 2024.
Expecting to resume the “Sing! World Tour” in the Summer of 2025, the Gettys meanwhile continue their outreach through the Getty Music Foundation. According to the Gettys, the foundation helps “educate churches, families and individuals across the globe in a biblical view of theology, artistry, and mission in congregational singing.”
