Panama’s former First Lady Lorena Castillo, Juan Carlos Varela’s wife (Varela was President of Panama from 2014 to 2019), said in a video shared on social media that she “wanted to find Christ, and found Him … a year and a half ago”.
“I have always searched for more, more spirituality, something that would fill my professional and material life. Because though I had it all, I felt so empty… So, so empty, so I decided to study the Bible”, Castillo shares in the video.
Last year she was seen at a dinner organized by an evangelical church, and her presence was noted but not reported by the press. At that event, she was accompanied by Pastors José and Teresa Pimentel, leaders of Centro Familiar Vida Nueva, which Castillo is said to attend, and where she and other people shared their testimonies, according to some Instagram stories. Castillo’s testimony was recorded and reproduced as a reel in other social media accounts.
"I really wanted to find Christ, and I found Him here. My life has been transformed in an unimaginable way. The things I have been able to achieve for myself, reinventing myself through the study of the Bible, and as I study the truth and the life of Christ, I understand that He lives in me and, since He lives in me, I must give more of that, more of Him. I now have a new life, because a year and a half ago I started this journey of finding Christ”, she concluded.
